Our experienced instructors provide one-on-one or two-on-one coaching for Elementary through Middle School-aged youth. Whether they’re learning the basics of climbing or looking for more advanced training, children of all ages will benefit from private instruction.
At the beginning of your session, coaches will take a few minutes to chat with yourself and your child about goals for the lesson.
Hello, my name is Matthew Jones (he/him/his). I have been climbing for over 7 years and working with youth in the outdoor industry for over 11 years. I have traveled all over the country for sport, trad, alpine, ice, and mixed climbing. These experiences led me to obtain my American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Single Pitch Instructor certification. Professionally, I have worked as an instructor for Outward Bound, Naturalist at Large, Mass Audubon Wildwood Camp, and the Coldharbour Institute, among others.
I have experience working with youth of varying ages, as young as 5, as well as adults, but I particularly enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals. As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand the unique coaching strategies necessary for efficiently coaching neurodivergent climbers. I take pride in making sure every climber feels safe in the gym.
Additional coaching expertise includes assisting climbers with anxiety, working through fears, and movement with hypermobility.
