Frigid Flash 2026

Youth Round

Friday, March 20th from 4:00pm - 8:00pm

The 'Adult' competition is for anyone born in 2011 or earlier.
The 'Youth' competition is for anyone born in 2012 or later.

Youth will be split into Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Para (all levels combined), and Non-Binary (all levels combined) categories.

  • Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced will be split into girls/boys divisions.
  • All categories must have a minimum of 10 participants by March 1st for the Alaska Rock Gym to be able to host that category. If your category does not have 10 participants by the deadline, you will be contacted and can switch to a different category of your choosing or you can opt to be issued a full refund.

Flash* Grades

  • If you flash most 5.9, register for Novice.
  • If you flash most 5.10, register for Intermediate.
  • If you flash most 5.11-, register for Advanced.

*Flash means that you walk up to a climb and finish it on your first try without falling, taking, or otherwise putting weight on the rope.

  • The categories will be split into men/women divisions.
  • All categories must have a minimum of 10 participants by March 1st for the Alaska Rock Gym to be able to host that category. Flash* Grades - Men

  • If you flash most 5.10-, register for Novice.
  • If you flash most 5.11-, register for Intermediate.
  • If you flash most 5.12-, register for Advanced.
  • If you do not flash 5.12, wish to compete on Lead, and are certified to Lead Climb at the Alaska Rock Gym, register for Advanced Lead.
  • If you flash most 5.12 and are certified to Lead Climb at the Alaska Rock Gym, register for Open.

Alaska Rock Gym will not provide belayers for the adult competition. If you do not arrive with an ARG certified belayer, you will not be able to compete and will not be refunded.
