USAC Alaskan Regionals Selection Event - Bouldering
Join us for the 2026 Boulder Alaskan Regionals Selection Event (AKSE) on Saturday, September 12th! The competition will be an onsight format.
All climbers MUST be registered by Friday, August 28th at 10 PM. Climbers will be be eligible to register to compete after this date.
The warmup times and schedule will be published by Tuesday, September 1st.
Alaskan USA climbing competitors can qualify to the Regionals Championships events through the Alaskan Regionals Selection Events or through attending Qualification Events in Regions 11 and 12 (Oregon and Washington). The bouldering event will be an onsight Format, detailed in the USA Climbing Rulebook and in our Rules tab in the event details.
Check in will open an hour before each climbing period starts and, once checked in, climbers will be in the isolation area until it is their time to climb. AKSE competitors and coaches will not be allowed in the Alaska Rock Gym while setting is occurring.
The top 2 or 3 finishers* in each category will qualify for Bouldering Regionals, which will be hosted in Oregon or Washington in the spring (date and location to be announced by USA Climbing). For those who qualify, Regionals details can be found on the USA Climbing Region 12 page.

Onsight Format
Each category will have three boulders to attempt. Climbers will enter the warm up area and will move to the climbing area shortly before their climbing time. Climbers will have four minutes of climbing for each boulder and four minutes of rest between each boulder. After climbing, the competitor will not be allowed to return to the warm up area.
Registration will close on Friday, August 28th at 10 PM and the warm up schedule will be posted by Tuesday, September 1st.
Climbers are not allowed to see the climbs before the competition and neither competitors nor coaches will be allowed in the Alaska Rock Gym once setting has begun until arriving for the competition.
Climbers are responsible for bringing their own climbing equipment or coordinating with the Alaska Rock Gym for rental equipment.
