USAC Alaskan Regionals Selection Event - Top Rope and Lead
Join us for this year's Top Rope and Lead Alaskan Regionals Selection Event (AKSE) on Friday, September 18th.
All climbers must be registered by Friday, September 4th at 4 PM. The running order will be published by Tuesday, September 8th. Route videos will be made public by 10 PM on Thursday, September 17th.
Alaskan USA climbing competitors can qualify to the Regionals Championships events through the Alaskan Regionals Selection Events or through attending Qualification Events in Regions 11 and 12 (Oregon and Washington). The ropes event will be a Flash Format, detailed in the USA Climbing Rulebook and in our Rules tab in the event details.
Check in opens at 3 PM and climbing will begin at 4 PM. If an athlete will have difficulty making it here after school, please reach out to youthprogams@alaskarockgym.com to be placed later in the running order.
The top 2 or 3 finishers* in each category will qualify for Top Rope and Lead Regionals, which will be hosted in Oregon or Washington in the spring (date and location to be announced by USA Climbing). For those who qualify, Regionals details can be found on the USA Climbing Region 12 page.
*Number of qualifying spots varies by age category.
Flash Format
Each category will have three ropes climbs. U11, U13, and U15 will compete on top rope. U17, U19, and U20 will compete on lead.
Registration will close on Friday, September 4th at 4 PM and the climbers' running order will be posted by Tuesday, September 8th.
Beta videos of the competition climbs will be publicly posted on the Alaska Rock Gym website by 10 PM the night before the competition (Thursday, September 17th). Climbers can review the videos and watch each other climb during the competition.
Climbers are responsible for bringing their own climbing equipment or coordinating with the Alaska Rock Gym for rental equipment. Ropes for lead climbing will be provided by the Alaska Rock Gym.
