2026 Adult Frigid Flash!

The Frigid Flash is coming!

The Frigid Flash this year is a tiered redpoint style ropes competition - meaning you get to try a variety of routes over the course of the event
and see how many you can complete without falling. This is a new ropes format so check out the rules video here!  ☆

Come check out a slew of new (and super fun) comp climbs! Grab a (belay certified) friend or two and sign up! Each category will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. Based on your flash grade and top rope or lead preference*, choose which category suits you best.
 

The top five competitors from each Open category (Male and Female) will be invited back for Open Finals to compete for podium placement! Stick around to watch a truly spectacular show of both Youth and Adult Finals on Saturday evening! The adult raffle will also take place at Finals on Saturday evening.

Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Para, Non-Binary

Lead Only Categories*

Advanced Lead, Open, Para, Non-Binary

Flash* Grades - Men

• If you flash most 5.10-, register for Novice.
• If you flash most 5.11-, register for Intermediate.
• If you flash most 5.12-, register for Advanced.
• If you do not flash 5.12, wish to compete on Lead, and are certified to Lead Climb at the Alaska Rock Gym, register for Advanced Lead.
• If you flash most 5.12 and are certified to Lead Climb at the Alaska Rock Gym, register for Open.

Flash* Grades - Women

• If you flash most 5.10-, register for Novice.
• If you flash most 5.11-, register for Intermediate.
• If you flash most 5.11+, register for Advanced.
• If you do not flash 5.12-, wish to compete on Lead, and are certified to Lead Climb at the Alaska Rock Gym, register for Advanced Lead.
• If you flash most 5.12- and are certified to Lead Climb at the Alaska Rock Gym, register for Open.

Alaska Rock Gym will not provide belayers for the adult competition. If you do not arrive with an ARG certified belayer, you will not be able to compete and will not be refunded. ARG will not be conducting belay tests on the day of the competition. If you are traveling from out of town and would like to request an exception, please email info@alaskarockgym.com.

*All categories must have a minimum of 10 participants by March 1st for the Alaska Rock Gym to be able to host that category. If your category does not have 10 participants by the deadline, you will be contacted and can switch to a different category of your choosing or you can opt to be issued a full refund.
