Pumpkin Pump Youth Redpoint Round

PUMPKIN PUMP IS BACK!

The Pumpkin Pump is a redpoint style bouldering competition - meaning you get to try a variety of boulders over the course of the event
and see how many you can complete. Come dressed to impress and potentially win the costume contest! We'll have food, fun, prizes and
so much stoke it'll make you sick (or maybe that's from all the candy?). Compete among friends and peers! Each category will have
a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.

Adult climbers can sign up for either adult redpoint round, regardless of category.

Youth climbers must sign up for the morning Youth Redpoint Round.

The top five competitors from each Adult Open category and Youth Advanced (Male and Female) will be invited back for Finals to compete for 1st place! Stick around to watch a truly spectacular bouldering show! Stage lighting, a DJ, maybe some dynos and knee bars, the battle for bragging rights, and epic raffle prizes!

USA Climbing - Alaskan Selection Event

Within the Pumpkin Pump this year is the Alaska Selection Event (AKSE) for bouldering for the USA Climbing Youth Series. If you are an Alaskan Youth USAC climber attemping to qualify for USAC Regionals, please sign up for the Pumpkin Pump through the registration link or at the Front Desk and also email andi@alaskarockgym.com to opt in for the Selection Event. Climbers in the AKSE must have an active USA Climbing membership.

U11, U13, and U15 climbers must climb in the Youth Redpoint Round from 8AM-11AM.

U17, U19, and U20 climbers must climb in Adult Repoind Round One from 11:30AM-2:30PM.

If grandma, uncle, little brother or sister are coming to cheer on your youth competitor, they need a valid waiver!

If you have climbed in the Pumpkin Pump before, the scoring system will look a little different this year. Make sure to attend the rules meeting and read the back of your scorecard!

Modified Redpoint

There will be a total of 15 climbs separated into tiered difficulties that have escalating amounts of points.
Competitors will have 3 hours to complete their climbs. Climbers can make repeat attempts on the same climbs throughout the time. All attempts must be from the start hold.
The highest 7 scores on 7 different climbs on the climber's scorecard will be totaled for their final score.
Climbers will self-select their category. If a climber exceeds certain point thresholds, they will be bumped up to the next hardest category.
Youth Categories: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced

The top five competitors from Advanced Youth Male and Advanced Youth Female will compete in Youth Finals at 6:30 PM, directly before Adult Finals.

Based on your child's flash grade, choose which category* suits them best.

Youth Categories**:

Novice: Flash V1+

Intermediate: Flash V3+

Advanced: Flash V5+

Non-Binary: All levels combined

Para: All levels combined

*We must have a minimum of 10 registrations for each category by October 1st to run your category. If we do not receive 10 registrations by October 1st, you will be contacted to move to your next choice category.

**Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced categories are split into male/female divisions.
